Checkpoint Fulusjön changed to Drosbacken! See news!

March 10-15th 2008

Polardistance is a longdistance competition over 160, 300 or 400 km in a nice environment with friendly mountains and magnificent forests. The race is open for purebreeds of Alaskan Malamute, Greenland Dogs, Samoyed and Siberian Husky.

Polardistance is a real challenge for the musher and the dogs, a real teamwork. You have to to carry all food and equipment necessary to complete the race. There are no depots along the trail. On checkpoints there will be access to water. Help from others during the race is not allowed.

Start and finish is in the campingground in Särna in the middle of Sweden. The trail goes from Särna to Idre, back towards Särna, over the bare mountain region – Vedungsfjället – to Lillhärdal (for 400 km) and then to the finish in Särna. In Idre there is a public checkpoint in the middle of the village. The trail is marked all way.

First start is on Tuesday the 11th of March at 09.00.
You will find more information about the track under Information.
Veterinary examination will be performed before start and during the race. The race is closed with a musherdinner. The startingfee includes breakfast at start and musherdinner.
