The equipment will be checked the day before you start. The equipment has to be fully functional for you to start the race.
Following equipment is compulsory to bring with you during the whole race. At finish the equipment will be checked again.
- Compass
- Map (not included in starting fee, but will be able to buy at Särna)
- Snow-spade
- Small axe or big knife
- Sleeping bag for winter use
- Sleeping mat
- Tent for use during wintertime and survival bag OR extreme survival bag the ”Järven Extreme”.
- Extra clothing outfit
- First Aid (for human and dogs)
- Plastic bag for waste
- Headlamp (with spare batteries and bulb)
- Light-stick (will be provided at the Musher meeting)
- Matches
- Spirit-stove or similar type of stove for cold weather
- Fuel enough to complete the competition in a safe way. 0,5 litres shall be brought back to goal.
- Stake out wire or chain for the dogs ( Extra wire for leaving dog at checkpoint)
- 4 socks/dog (from each checkpoint)
- Emergency-food 0.5 kg/dog in a sealed bag. Shall be sealed until finish of the race.
- Sunglasses
- Food for the Musher and dogs to manage the whole distance
- Breaking pad for Nome style
- Brakes for both Nordic and Nome style
